Did anyone else see the random reference to Cheyenne on afterelton.com in their recap of the Season Finale of Brothers and Sisters? I may be the only person who reads that...

Anyway, the recapper said (and if you care about the show but didn't see it, it make a reference you may not know about):

"Now we can spend the next 12 weeks obsessing over who’ll be cast as Ryan Walker. I’m starting my own personal campaign for it to be Cheyenne Jackson, Chris Evans, or anyone else on the AfterElton.com Hot 100 list. Who’s with me?"

It is very bittersweet... So much love for the show, Douglas Carter Beane, Dan AND Kerry (finally) but sad that Chey, Mary & Jackie didn't get the nods they deserved.

Xanadu didn't get direction of a musical either? Really? I have to question more of the nominations than I thought.


I don't see how Stew qualifies as an actor over someone like Cheyenne.

I'm thrilled about Xanadu getting the Best Musical nomination, ditto for Kerry and Douglas Carter Beane. I'm VERY upset that Cheyenne, Jackie and Mary were overlooked. They all would have been Tony-worthy in any season. (Nice to see that Xanadu's numbers increased week ending May 11th.)

Anyway, Huzzah for XANADU!!!!!!

I'm SO glad Kerry's work got recognized and she was nominated she deserves it! and it's great that the show(and now they will be performing at the Tonys, and hopefully that will help ticket sales!) and Douglas Carter Beane was nominated as well! All very deserving! I can't help but be disappointed that Cheyenne, Mary and Jackie were left out though...

If it's any comfort to them, I hope they read this and realize how much we love them. It may not be the same as a Tony nomination, but they entertain us and make us feel so good every night.

I just wish there was a category that would honor the whole entire cast & crew because everyone (understudies, swings, featured skaters, the band) deserves the recognition.

I tripped and now I have a boo-boo knee.

I was just thinking back to a year ago when this show seemed be headed for self-immolation due to the source material and people like Cynthia McFadden. The fact that it's gotten so much award recognition (and actually won something already!!!) is vindication both for the show and the fans. I initially saw it because of the music and the cheap onstage seats, but to know it is to pretty much fall in love (or at least deep like) with it.

Hoping for a fourth visit on either the 29th or 30th of May.

Since you mentioned it, Robbie, your soapbox was blocking mine. I agree with everything you said, BTW. Despite the disappointments, let's all rally and drive this nomination to a WIN!!!!! If Truman won in 1948, let the pundits say what they will, XANADU is still the most fun show in town and should win in 2008!!!! HUZZAH, XANADU and all who love her!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FINALLY!!!! FINALLY Kerry is nominated. I mean, I know she doesn't care too much about these things...but it is so great that her talent and work are finally being recognized. It is long past due. Her talent is right up there with all of the "bigger" named actresses on broadway, and yet she is always overlooked. I am so happpy. Not to mention- more people need to know about her and her amazing unparalleled talent, and now- huzzah!- they will!


Also sorry to keep harping on this, but I still have an onstage seat to Xanadu next Thursday, if anyone wants it!

Has anyone noticed that Xanadu is the only musical this season to cop a nomination for the Tony, the Drama Desk Award AND the Outer Critics Circle Award? I know, In the Heights was considered in last year's tallies, but, technically, I think a point can be made for our favorite show. Come on, Xanadu marketing team, thar's gold in them thar hills!

Hey Jim - So far it's still fairly easy to get on-stage tix the day before, or morning of, but anything can change... ya never know.

Interesting note that "Damn Yankees" opens on July 10, 2008, which is exactly one year to the day that "Xanadu" opened on July 10, 2007. I guess Cheyenne will never forget that date ... I know I won't.

On Tuesday night the Mezz was pretty much completely empty. I was in the Orchestra so I didn't even notice it until I was leaving. The onstage seating wasn't totally sold out either.

As a matter of fact during the scene where Sonny goes to the empty theatre it went something like this:

*Cheyenne carries in ghost-light and makes the comment about it being empty*
Mary and Jackie do their giggling and cackling, but Mary really dryly went "Yeah, it's empty!"
Cheyenne said: Must just be some mice...some giggling and sarcastic mice.
