The "I Missed The Tonys" Tony Thread
The "I Missed The Tonys" Tony Thread#1
Posted: 6/16/08 at 1:37amI was in a show, actually doing theatre. Damn good performance too. Only reason I'd ever want to miss the Tonys.
With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

Posted: 6/16/08 at 1:38amBut you missed Liza falling off the stage, Patti saying "F*CK" on live television, and Cry-Baby pulling a huge upset by winning Best Musical and Score...

Sounds like a party I had last week in the Hamptons.

Did it include Glenn Close trying to sing "Some Enchanted Evening" and Mandy Patikin's hideous FIDDLER beard?
Invite me next time, lover.

Posted: 6/16/08 at 1:43amI missed the Tonys because I'm in NY from Chicago and I went to see Saved instead to maximize the shows I can see in 5 days.

Posted: 6/16/08 at 1:45amNo, but I did catch Mandy and the beard that crossed state lines at the rehearsal for the brief bit that was broadcast online.

I tried so hard not to miss them. Between the dress rehearsal, the thank you cam, the site that shall not be named, and the small amount I got out of TVU Player before it crapped out on me, I think I did pretty well. But I wish I'd got to see 'em properly. I didn't see a thing from the 'Sunday' performance onwards, apart from the thank you cam, and while that had some nice moments (Patti namechecking all the Roses, Boyd remembering his dad, Paulo speaking in (I assume) Portuguese), it just wasn't the same.

Chinky, you went to see Saved over watching the Tonys? Must have biggest the disappointment ever...
Btw, was Curtis Holbrook in Saved tonight? Or was he at Radio City to cheer on Xanadu and his gf?
