She deserves a real play-by-play, but it's late and I need to get to sleep! Let's just say for now that this woman is being wasted in Legally Blonde. We knew she could sing, but anybody who doesn't think she's funny didn't go to Feinstein's tonight. Everything was top notch, A+ and everybody in the sold-out house seemed thrilled to be there. She was gorgeous, gracious and, to use a cliched but fitting word, simply AMAZING.
You beat me to it. I actually cried, twice. I had no intention of ever missing this. It was pricey but after seeing it, I would have paid anything! She was so nice and seemed genuinely surprised that so many people came to see it and took every and any opportunity to thank us, over and over again. I never see anyone do that. Not a Broadway tune to speak of and if this is a taste of her CD, fuggedubouit! All in all, a huge leap above the night she did a few years ago and sorry but, I'll take Andy Karl over David St. Louis any day!
Absolutely the best concert I've been to. She was FABULOUS, energetic, in GREAT voice...I can't say enough good things about tonight. It was absolutely incredible and I feel bad for anyone who missed it. Andy sounded amazing with her, and seeing Andrew Logan perform opposite her was a real treat, and Lindsay Nicole Chambers provided excellent backup. EVERYTHING about the show was 100% AWESOME.
Congratulations, Orfeh, here's hoping there are many more.
Did anyone who was at Kate's gig make it to Orfeh's on time? Just curious.
You guys pretty much said it all... she was, as Grand Motel put it, "Simply Amazing". And I agree Ruprecht - it was a *MUCH* better evening than the first time she did it a few years ago. What a blast! Can't *WAIT* for the new album.
thanks for the review, wish i was orfehs or kates tonight..too bad. aww lindsay was there. i am looking forward to your full review but anyways hope you have a nice sleep tonight.
I'm staying with a friend and don't want to keep him up so I'll *try* to be brief.
Orfeh was in a word, DIVINE. I love her in all the shows she's done but tonight was incredible and so not a "broadway audition" if you know what I mean. She's always effortless on stage but I felt like I was in her living room and she was simply putting on a show for her guests. Her stories were not only informative for die hard fans like myself but they were never boring, and always ridiculously funny and poignant at the same time. I've rambled enough but I am so happy I made the trip and spent the money. It was worth every cent. Andrew Logan has a fan for life too.
Also, she has an incredibly enlightened and sharp sense of humor about herself which was proven when she(her back up singers) addressed much of the "rumors" as part of the opening number. I can't even paraphrase it but it alone was worth the price of admission and had the audience guffawing from the first word.
How could I forget to mention the opening. I was blown away by the stuff that was said. Ah-mah-zing!

I believe Nicolette Hart did.
"I knew Orfeh back when she had two names, and her old nose"- I just about died laughing.
i bet the cast spilted to support both of them. they are a family unit.
I read that Nicolette left Kate's early to make it though...either way, nice of her to show up :) For anyone "starspotting" in the audience, pretty cool that Jane Krakowski was there also.
"You are the Broadway! I saw the Broadway!"
That story *killed* me, lol.
Aside from all of the highlights mentioned and Orfeh's general fabulousness, I must say that a highlight for me was Lindsay Nicole Chambers' dance break during "Kiss." Is there anything that girl CAN'T do? lol.
Lindsay Nicole Chambers is fabulous, love her. And hey, so since now she's performed with Orfeh in 3-6 years LNC will be winning a Tony, right? That's how it works. :)

yes Kelly2. despite all your whining and ALARMIST comments, i managed to stay for ALL of kate's gig, say a quick hi to her on the way out, and make it to orfeh's with enough time to grab a drink and sit down. and i even left after nicolette and was more than fine. so relax.
Not just because she's performed with Orfeh, anakela...she's performed with Orfeh AND Andrew Logan. It's that magic combo that does it.
Just to reiterate what shootingstar said - I also stayed for all of Kate's concert and made in time to Orfeh's to also order a drink and chat with the people at my table before Orfeh started!
Orfeh was amazing (as people have already said). She was so funny and warm (giving shout-outs to everyone she knew in the audience), and her singing was spot-on. I can not wait for her new album!

I'm relaxed? Lol, I was just curious, since I was told MORE THAN ONE PERSON told me it would be completely impossible. :-P Good for you.
Missing Orfeh's gig would've been a crime, and I wouldn't have risked missing even a minute of it for anything.
I wish I could have afforded to hop over to Orfeh's gig after Kate's, but even Birdland was almost too pricey for me! So sad I missed it! But I hope she does another one in the future!
I made it to both as well without any hassle. The shows were polar opposites so there's no way to compare. Orfeh's a rock star (and funny as hell) and Kate Shindle obviously has a great passion for musical theater. Both have voices that don't quit but again, two very different types of artists. Shindle was very good about ending on time. She knew many of us were going over to Orfeh's. No traffic, 5 minutes in a cab, that was all. Feinstein's was packed to the gills with a vip or 2 in attendance who've been mentioned and they had me hook line and sinker the second they started with the "insults". I wish it had gone on another hour plus.
