Announcement coming today?
Interesting. Acting Company Present at the Friedman, though? That's odd. Could it be a benefit reading?

The Acting Company Presents The Rose Tattoo Cast Members:
Patti LuPone, Bonny Cannavale
Is Bonny Patti's understudy? Is she Bobby's sister?

Good role for Bobby, who was not at his best in either "The Big Knife" or "Glengarry Glen Ross" and deserves to be seen to better advantage, and a great one for Patti. I hope this does get a full production.

My guess is a one-night-only benefit reading.
The old Telecharge website has a little more information. It's definitely a one-night-only event (Monday, April 27th at 7pm), with Doug Hughes directing. Tickets will be $100-$250.

Anyone have thoughts about this reading?
I think they will read the play.
Good casting, so far, How's The Pone's Italian accent?

Damn, that was wonderful. Cannavale was brilliant, and LuPone was extraordinary. Cast her in a full revival, somebody!
Great performances all around. Never saw the show, I am a fan. Bobby and Patti knocked it out of the park.

Isn't Lapone a bit long of tooth to play a pregnant woman with a 12-year-old daughter?

Somehow I don't think anyone cared last night.
But I would honestly love for her to get a full rehearsal period and do even a limited run of the show, just to see how much further she can take Serafina. I thought she was just incredible last night, but I know there has to be more.

Zoe Wanamaker played the role in London in 2007, at the age of 58.
^ I would be more than willing to hand-wave the fact that she's clearly much older than Serafina should be. Someone really should've mounted a production for LuPone 20 years ago, but that was the nadir of her life and fame. She said in a recent interview that she'd love to do a full production (which I know is the equivalent of "yes, I'd LOVE a full-time paying job!"), though I do think it'd still be better suited for a limited run of some sort.
