When I saw Miss Saigon, during "The American Dream" all the guys in the chorus were Elvis and all the girls were Marilyn Monroe (as seen in 7-Year Itch). I just saw a clip of the original production, and they were just in suits and sequined costumes. When did they make this change? Was it just for the tour?
I thought it was a great touch.

Did the production you saw have the Cadillac? I saw one that used Marilyn/Elvis, but that was to cover up the fact that they had no car.
And they had the number performed in front of a Hollywood movie theater.
