SO yes. I went on this lovely Wednesday to try my luck at Wicked and Bee. I'll try to make this long awesome day short, because you all can only read so much (I understand!).
WICKED (mat Lottery) was DEAD (at least for Wicked). There were about 20 people there AND they had like 30 limited view seats in addition to the lotto tix. They called 4 or 5 names that didn't even want the tix (someone in their group had gotten them already!) and I was like..."NO i'm gonna loose when there is NO one here!" But I got it. Kristy Cates was out for Elphaba, as well as Carole Shelley. However, both understudies (Dee Roscioli and Dioni Michelle Collins respectively) could not have been better!!! Dee's Elphaba is by far one of the best!! Both ladies were adorable and so sweet at the stage door as well. Anyways, I'm not really a fan of Stacie Morgain Lewis's Glinda, especially her voice. She didn't open her mouth when she sang sometimes, and she was a bit pitchy too. Maybe I caught her at a bad show though, so I'll just have to go back and see (her and Kristy!!). anyways..it was fantastic, but when that was over I walked the 1.25 miles to Drury lane....
SPELLING BEE!! whoo hoo, there were 6 people in the lottery, who wanted a total of 5 tickets. They had 22. that made me sad. I was called Last. of course. The lotteries, however small, wanted to make me sweat for my ticket. Anyways, when I got there, some of my new friends (you wouldn't believe how many new friends I made today!) told me they were doing the little sign-ups to be a speller in the bee. I was all about that. And long story short: I was in the effin' show (also called last for that!). I was a finalist!
A bit about that: the first time I went up they said "Ms. Souza is very popular...at band camp." (and my word was "cow" so I got the "THAT WORD'S SO MORONIC!" ) the second time was "Ms. Souza has gone all the way.....*very long pause* to Belgium". and I forget the word I had (I didn't know it!) but I barely mispelled it, I said a 'y' instead of an 'i'. so yeah.
This cast was phenomenal! I've never laughed sooo hard! I recommend the Bee very highly! We had u/s for Marcy, and I would have never guessed that role wasn't her's every night!
SO I can't wait to go back and see the shows again! though I doubt the lottery will stay this easy...
night!
