Lets just say that for some reason the following composers were given a challenge to create the best musical of their entire carriers and they had to group together in groups of 3 or 4 to complete this amazing musical, who do you think would compliment anothers in their composing skills? And why do you think so? Who would write the lyrics, and who the music? Remember more than 1 person can write both... Here are your choices:
Stephan Sondhiem George Gershwin (Ira as well) Stephan Schwartz Irving Berlin Andrew Lloyd Webber Oscar & Hammerstien (you can break these 2 up if you like) Kander & Ebb (break these up as well) Lerner & Lane & Loewe (as well as these fellows) Cole Porter
You can't begin to create a musical without the book writers.
Sure, you got Hammerstein & Lerner in the mix, but I wouldn't think about writing the world's greatest musical without considering Betty Comden and Adolph Green, George Abbott, Thomas Meehan, Peter Stone, Joseph Stein, George S. Kaufman, Neil Simon, etc.
depends on what kind of musical. for a witty/funny one neil simon as book, betty comden adolph green as lyricist and cole porter as composer others, um, ill hav to get back to you on that
"Sing the words, Patti!!!!" Stephen Sondheim to Patti LuPone.
