OK, as my comments on the Rent thread testify, I'm having a bit of a gin-induced evening, but I'm just interested what other people make of the Ken Russell 'Boyfriend' movie starring Twiggy and Barbara Windsor.

I love it!

Is that a mistake?

Not at all. I have a soft spot for it as well. It's totally Ken Russell so you should know what your getting. I believe licencing problems are keeping it from being rereleased.

I also put it in the same catagory as Goodbye Mr Chips and Pennies from Heaven as movie musicals that dont quite work but you can help but watch them.

As a whole I'm not a big fan of the movie (too long for starters) , however there are moments - every now and again that have me crying with laughter.

Count me in as a fan of this one! Mind you, having not seen it for over 20 years I could be seeing it in a different light today maybe. Over the years I have made many enquires as to if /when it would ever get to VHS (yes Ive been asking that long!) and now DVD.
All roads lead to nothing! I do, however have the LaserDIsc of it! mmmm!

One of my favorites..talk about campy! Antonia Ellis is great ....the scene in the box during intermission is a classic and Barbara Windsor is totally hysterical in every scene- a whacky wonderful cast-they must have had a ball making the film. And some great choreography

I used to think Antonia Ellis in this film and Antonia Ellis Executive Producer of SEX AND THE CITY were one and the same. I was wrong. Whatever happenned to ANTONIA ELLIS of THE BOYFRIEND fame?

I love Barbara Windsor! Her work back in the 60s, 70s and 80s in film and especially in the theatre is classic.

You can get it on Amazon WickedBoy? I've got a copy but none of the video covers I've seen are the same...I think it was fairly hard to get..
