We all know how much Oprah is kicking herself for not having produced DREAMGIRLS. Her adoration of the cast and film on her show was over the top (although I found it odd that Danny Glover, her two time co-star, was not on that episode.)
Anyway, anyone else thinking Oprah might just want to try producing the COLOR PURPLE:THE MUSICAL film after what appears to be the huge success of DREAMGIRLS?

Oprah has an unfortunate tendency to get rather hyperbolic when she has the cast of movies on for an entire episode.
I shall never forget when she told Ron Howard and cast that "Backdraft is the best movies I've seen in my life!" She enjoyed the fire sequences, it seems.
Kind of like Rosie O and Liz Smith's seemingly endless array of "best musical ever!" quotes.
But I'll bet she's considering it.
Not to mention the hot sex on top of the firetruck as it speeds through the streets with the sirens blaring.
Here I go on a rant. Not every movie is a potential musical on Broadway and not every musical is a potential movie. We all know that the only rule of creative productions is that every good TV show gets made into a bad movie!!!!

And a needless one, at that.
