I have seen several revivals of the play in the past 35 years, and in my opinion, it just doesn't work. Mybe Nichols, Freeman and MacDormand (and whoever plays the third leading role) can bring something dynamic to it, but the work is somewhat obvious. There is a good movie version of it though, with Crosby, Kelly and Holden.
