Count me as excited, provided of course it's a good production. That show is pure theatre. I just hope they don't try to update or expand it in anyway. In the case of this show, less is most certainly more.

Any casting ideas??? I personally think that for Matt and Luisa they should use unknowns . . . but NOT more straight out of college unknowns. I'd rather have people that have been around working a bit, at least, even if we don't know their names yet . . .
For already established people, I think Celia would be great, but i don't imagine she would want the difference in pay going from a bway contract to off-bway.
Thoughts?

Has there ever been a straight actor to play him?
THE FANTASTICKS, Off Broadway, was a wonderful starting ground for a lot of great musical theatre performers like Kristin Chenoweth, Betsy Joslyn, Carole Demas, F. Murray Abraham, Jerry Orbach etc.
I hope they keep that tradition. I would hate to see well known performers in these roles - it would ruin it.
