'A Raisin in the Sun' - for its examination of a family's struggle to attain the "American Dream" when the identity of what that dream was and what it meant to them could not be agreed upon.
'Death of a Salesman' - for a similar examination of what that dream can do to people and families
'Our Town' - for its look into smalltown America
'Ragtime' - a look at this country's development at one of the most vulnerable and volatile times in it's history
'Inherit the Wind' - for it's theatrical depiction of a real life event that examined a large core of this country's staunch religious beliefs and the lengths they will go to destroy those that pose a threat to those beliefs.

The opposite of creation isn't war, it's stagnation.

DEARLY DEPARTED, a very black comedy about death in these here Amurican states. The characters are farcically but very truly and endearingly drawn when it comes to looking at things like religious fanaticsm and our whole "consumer" mentality.
And frankly, we need to laugh at ourselves a bit more.

Margo, your description of ANGELS IN AMERICA is so right and is definitely applicable to today's political structure. Here's hoping that some positive change will happen in 2008, or will it be more of the same?
