I didn't know if anyone else had posted this but I couldn't find anything. I was on imdb and it has listed Michelle Pfeiffer as Velma Von Tussle. I think she would be great in this part. What do you think?

Who's Rowan Atkinson playing... Tracy?

I haven't seen anything confirmed yet. IMDb isn't an "official" source, but they're usually fairly accurate.

She'd be great as Velma if it's true, though.

I`ve known about this for a year now! (I`ve been part of IMDB for 3 years!!!) I REALLY wanted Barbra Strieand as Velma though....Michelle will be good though! Also Queen Latipha as Motormouth Maybelle John Travolta as Edna and Rowan Atkinson (Doesn`t say who he`ll be. This is who else should be in it:

Corny Collins: Roger Bart

Amber: Mandy Moore

Penny: Kerry Butler

Wilbur: Billy Crystal

Mr. Pinky: Charles Neilson Reily

WHY JOHN TRAVOLTA!?!?!?!??!

Nothing has been confirmed except Travolta and Latifah.

Crystal is in negotiations but its pretty much a done deal too.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

kerry is way way too old to play penny in the movie, they're looking for young actors/ actresses to play young parts.

OK, I know this might make me look like a teenybopper. But the Disney Channel's "That's So Raven", there's an adorable co-star Annaliese Van Der Pol (Chelsea). Plus, she can sing as she's proven on one or more episode. I'm pretty critical of acting, and think she's really charming and funny, plus her character's pretty similar to Penny.

Michelle might be good, but I once heard someone mention Bette Midler and that would be amazing for me to see. I love Queen Latifa,h, that news excites me!

Ive always said Anneliese Van Der Pol for the role of Penny.

She is a wonderful talent. My old HS drama teacher - taught her at Orange County High School of the Arts here in California. He said, she was probably the best student he has ever had.

He also taught Kamilah Martin of Hairspray fame.

I was just thinking...maybe since the whole Haylie Duff/Amber on Broadway thing came up...maybe they're looking for her to play Amber in the film as well?

Tisdale is cute, but van der Pol has a much better Broadway voice.

John Travolta?
That's not a joke?
Holy...
Yea for van der Pol! The only person that makes that show worth watching... literally.
Tisdale could play one of the Corny Collins kids? lol
Heck, let's just get the whole Disney Channel in there! (They're mostly all the same kids since they use the same actors for every show/movie.)

John Travolta makes me not want to see it. And I was really excited for it before. I refuse to sit through that man acting in a dress. And he will make the movie bomb. When't the last time he had a sucess?

LOL ironically ashley tisdale WENT to my Highschool.
she was two grades below me.

I honestly dont think she can sing... I think most of her vocal ability comes from the computers at the disney recording studios. but on the suite life i find her comical. I havent heard her sing live, so she could prove me wrong.

I really dislike all the travolta bashing... give the guy a chance (at least) I agree i was apart of the 'no travolta club' initially.. but i dont care anymore... and think he will do a fine job...

when someone says things like "only harvey can do it!" its bs... cause thats what people said about anyone else NOT Devine.
Although I love Harvey... its been proven that people can play Edna just aswell.. or bring something new and different to the role.

brdwaybaby17 - van der pol is not in the role... iwe wer ejust saying we would like her to be.

Yea for me because I'm awesome! (OK, bad example.)
