Saw this last night at Lincoln Center and really liked it. Greenburg has never been a favorite playwright of mine, but I respected what he did with this play and his use of symbolism. The story takes place in early 1929, just before the Wall Street crash, and depicts a scattering of the New York upper crust. Acting terrific all around; Jessica Hecht and Becky Ann Baker were especially wonderful. It's worth seeing.

This show closed last Sunday, but should have had a much longer run. The actors had certainly developed in their roles, and most of the criticism in the New York Press was widely overblown.
The elite critics were so narrowly focused on the works of Richard Greenberg, and not simply on this play as an individual work of art.
This was a marvelous production.
