"The Kid" (Question and discussion about the title song)

Hey, everyone. So, I first heard the title song from The Kid at Symphony Space: Wall to Wall Broadway during a portion when they sang songs from new shows in the works. I wasn't expecting much, but this song really blew me away. I kept the show on my radar and went to the show when it played off Broadway. I did not love the show, but once again I just kept playing that song over and over again in my head. Something about the melody felt so old fashioned as a song easy to hum, but also very original. And I thought that the lyrics to the song were probably the only perfect part of the finished work.

Did anybody else have similar a response? Also, I know no cast recording was made, but is there any audio recording of the title song out there?
