Have some of you seen the re sale prices on some of the first two shows, 500 bucks to be in the last row in the gods, $5000 grand to be in the front , insane

Splurged a bit (Very Seldom will I ever pay over $80 for a ticket), but I got my ticket for the June 6th show!!! I'm so excited that Jodi Benson will be doing this show!!!

I splurged too: I bought pool circle tickets for $375 a pop (+ fees). And I totally regret it now.

This has been one of my favorite movies since I was a kid & having the original Ariel there was irresistible to me. So I bought two tickets when they went on sale-- paying upwards of $900-- and made a little LA trip out of this. It's certainly a lot of money but definitely a worthy splurge, in my eyes.

However, ticket sales must have been slow for this new show b/c after a few days those $375 seats were lowered to $250.

And a few days after that they were down to $185. So in just a little over a week tickets prices dropped to about half of what I paid. (They currently sit at $185.)

I called Ticketmaster to complain & to ask for a refund in the price difference but they explained that it's due to a dynamic pricing marketing strategy & that they could not offer any partial refunds. They said dynamic pricing helps determine the actual value of tickets, so that means I paid $375 for a ticket that was essentially worth only $185. Grand. They also wouldn't cancel my original order so I could re-buy them at half the price. They said that would be at too much of a loss for them b/c $400 is "a lot of money." No ****, assholes!

I had a feeling I wasn't going to get what I wanted but still-- I'm a VERY good Ticketmaster customer (albeit a reluctant one). I have spent thousands of dollars in concert tickets in this year alone. Paying an extra 400-something dollars isn't going to put me in the poor house but it's more the principle. There are still seats available around mine that are going for half of what I paid. And this is through Ticketmaster-- we're not even talking re-sellers who need to take a hit to unload inventory.

Anyway, all this talk of Ticketmaster canceling people's Hamilton orders & people complaining about how awful Ticketmaster is made me want to share my little story & commiserate a bit. Ticketmaster's customer service is the absolute worst. They gave me a really hard time when I was on the phone with them. And it takes ages to get a human being on the phone in the first place.
