The various videos from across the pond on you-know-what show that the stage at The Savoy is about half the size of the one at the Palace and yet Jerry has managed to mount a VERY faithful reproduction of the Broadway "Legally Blonde."
On the other hand, from what I've been told, the reception by the audiences every night is pretty much identical to the response on closing night in New York. The screaming and thunderous applause often makes it hard to hear the lyrics. You'd think you were at a Beatles concert.
Remember those threads about how American audiences are so uncivilized displaying behavior you'd NEVER see in London?
Good times.
Anyway, I'm delighted I already have tickets for the show in a couple of weeks. I'm looking forward to this show the most.

Mister Matt, I love your Avatar featuring Marion Lorne, who was a beloved actress in England in the 1930s. I have written extensively about here in previous posts on this site.

Or maybe even Girls Aloud.
One can construct about 60 percent of the show via videoa and it is clear that the producers have done a smash-up job. And to stage the whole thing in that jewel box stage (I used to see shows there all the time, prior to the totally-destructive fire - the place is a giant recreation - and I always thought it was marvelously intimate for 1200 seats) and maintain the flavor of the much-larger Broadway version is amazing. They even have the eleva - oh sorry - the lift.

Bravo to Jerry Mitchell. Between his work with Broadway Bares and the new choreographers showcase he organizes ever year, he has given so much to the theater community. He is a talented and hard working guy, but most of all, because of what he has done for others, I applaud his success.
And he just plain looks like a guy who would be fun to do a show with. A real theater geek. I can see why the casts love him (except when he makes them skip rope for an hour every morning.)
