Could someone enlighten me about this theater company? Is it like a regional group, where Broadway performers go and perform (a la North Shore) or is it just like "local" group? Thanks!
Hmm...I don't know for sure...but I believe it's just a local company. I saw Living Out this season. It was good...but no Broadway quality actors (or designers) in it. I've since seen some of those actors in other shows like at Boston Center for the Arts.
I didn't know Broadway actors performed at NSMT...good to know. I'm secretly excited that NSMT is going to be doing 2 shows in Boston while they re-do their theatre. That way I get to see some of their stuff with only a 20 minute ride on the T
No, it did help! I was thinking about going to see their production of Urinetown, but I think I'll skip it. Tickets are rather pricey, I'll wait until it hits regional theaters everywhere lol
NSMT doesn't employ like big-time Broadway stars, but they do get some people who have been on Broadway. Example: Terry Burrell, who played Muzzy in NSMT's production of Millie, played Muzzie & Mrs Meers on Broadway. And if my memory serves me correctly, Janine LaManna (currently Nickie in Sweet Charity) played Amneris in Aida last season.
My caveat is that I've only seen one show and it was a straight play...so I'm curious what their musical theatre talent is.
Maybe if it's a BoxTix...maybe. But I personally didn't love Urinetown when I saw the tour. Interesting choice for this theatre company as they have a very small space...
