Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Seriously? The Music Show is a rare recording, frontrow? As it happens, I actually have at least three of them (long story) - had no idea they were rare. They even have the hexaflexagons, still. I think one is unopened.
I enjoyed The Magic Show, Merlin not so much. I think Christian Slater played the young Merlin (I know he was in the show). This is also the show where my dislike for Nathan Lane began. It's the first time I remember him publicly disrespecting his fellow actors. He referred to Doug Henning as a "triple threat - can't sing, can't act, can't dance". Nice. All true, of course, and all the more cruel for that. He has done this sort of thing time and time again, and if he thinks it's witty, he's wrong.
Doug Henning was a sweet man, dedicated to bringing magic into people's lives. He had a good heart, always had a smile on his face and died far too young.
I also agree neither show ought to be revived. Merlin was really pretty bad, The Magic Show not much better and very much centered around Henning. I did love Ogden-Stiers as the older performer. He really had a pretty damn good voice, and Anita Morris had such a fun song lamenting being summoned up at anyone's whim.
"I've been shocked and unfrocked at a Wapurgisnacht - tell me - where is Gloria Steinman when you need her?"

Ghostlight2, "The Magic Show" all of a sudden got more rare for some reason. I had it on my wish list at Amazon, and there were usually about 5-7 third party resellers that were wanting about $40-$70 for a copy, and I was holding off on picking one up for my collection, but now there are no copies on Amazon. And wouldn't you know it, now is when I wanted one as I've got some extra cash from working two holidays at my job.
Ebay used to have a couple of CD copies floating around, but now all they have are vinyl copies (and for some reason, all of them say "Rare" in their listing, but they are all going for $5, except for one that is going for $45).

Ghostlight2, just to clarify it is the CD edition (not the old Bell/Arista Lp version) that has gone out-of-print and is now very hard to find. It was on a label called January Records. For a while DRG had copies on their website for $7.99 but they no longer list the title.
DRG has also mysteriously withdrawn their CD reissue of FIRST IMPRESSIONS, the 1959 musical version of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. They had deal with Sony to release the title with a pressing of 5,000 copies. Suddenly the disc was withdrawn from stores and taken off the website. Surely they didn't sell out all 5,000 copies.

Thanks for the clarification, front row. All my copies are first printing vinyl, and I wasn't interested in selling but the info is good to know.
Thank you. Good luck, choitoy, though if all you want is an audio, pm me.
