"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" as a Play

I've thought this ever since I saw the film for the first time, but does anyway else think "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" would make a fantastic straight play on Broadway? Of course you would have to adapt it from the screenplay instead of the book, since it is done in the form of a series of letters from a single character, but I really do think there is great potential there.
