The Players Club

Okej,
I have a question... My last name really is Booth, and I am told that I am a direct descendant of Edwin Booth, founder of The Players Club in NYC.
I am also told that because I am directly descended from Edwin, I am entitled to membership in the club. True or False?
I guess my real, burning question is this: would being a member of the club help me score better tickets to "Kristina" and perhaps get me into an after-show party, or am I on my own???
Thanks in advance...

Posted: 8/2/05 at 11:10amHi…I don’t know the answer to your question (sorry!), but I'm really curious...If you are descended from Edwin Booth, why did you choose to emphasize your relation to John Wilkes Booth (and not Edwin Booth) when choosing your screen name?

Hej, NCGuy...
Well, for one, JWB is more well-known. I don't consider him to be a hero, but I do admire his passion.
"Sic Semper Tyrranis!!" (JWB shouted this, the motto of the Commonwealth of Virginia, as he jumped to the stage of Ford's Theatre)

Posted: 8/2/05 at 11:46ami was lucky enough to be a guest at lunch there one day. i would have to say, judging from the age of the members i encountered, not many of them would be using the WWW (hate to stereotype, but there it is). Maybe you should write the club directly via snailmail and try your luck.

a) who is edwin booth?
b) i've never heard of the players club, nor have i heard of that musical you're obsessed with in every post you make, so i doubt anyone there would really care about it.

Hej, apdarcey...
a) Edwin Booth was a famous actor of the mid-nineteenth century and brother to Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth, who was also an accomplished actor. Edwin was also the founder of The Players Club.
b) Me, obsessed with "Kristina från Duvelmåla"? Absolutely. Get the cd set and tell me how long you can go without hearing it... Oh, and I'm not the only one... Hope to see you at the premiere!!!

Try giving them a buzz @ (212) 244-9494 or accessing their website @ http://www.theplayersnyc.org/ and maybe they can answer your question. Hope this helps!
