Last we saw The Producers at the Hollywood Bowl. Show was great.
Dialog heavy scenes (like when Bloom first shows up) got a bit lost at the Bowl but the musical numbers were fantastic. Cast was all spot on. (I've previously seen Original B-Way cast as well as LA extended run at the Pantages)
They cut the whole jail scene and "Betrayed" as well as one other song I can't recall right now.
Mel Brooks and Susan Stroman came out for a curtain call.
Picnic with friends, bottle of wine and the Hollywood Bowl is a perfect start of a Summer week. Throw in a Broadway show, and it can't be topped.
One thing, it didn't sell. Bowl was 1/2 empty. Hairspray, Les Miz, and Guys & Dolls in previous years all had a more full house. We had purchased in Section P but moved down a tier to Section F. The only full full bench sections were M/N (where Goldstar was selling)
If you're in LA, I'd recommend you go. Then again, if you live in LA and are reading Broadway World forums, you already are.

It is very strange because the Bowl is under 40% capacity for the weekend. But the lady at the box office had no idea why all the discount offers that were available have been taken away from the producers of the show. What I would do for anyone interested in going.. is buy the cheap stoner seats and then move up. I went last night. It is mediocre at best. But a fun night out.
