Does anyone know anything about the Producers tour that should be starting up within the next few weeks?

It's here in Knoxville TN in January 07
I think that I heard it was non-equity and very much scaled down, but with the same direction etc.

How is there still nothing? - I see it in five weeks.
The Producers tour is still rehearsing in Owensboro, KY. They will give two performances--on September 21 and 22--before the tour heads out. I will be seeing it one of those nights. So far I haven't heard anything else about the show although I do know that it's a non-Equity tour.

What about tour dates?
Any other casting news?
Ok so it looks like the tour website is up. And we know the leads: Jason Simon and Austin Owen. Its seems the rest of the cast will be announced shortly...
Yep, it'll be in Owensboro, KY in a couple of weeks for the rehearsal and I'll be checking it out one of those nights.

I'm working at the RiverPark in Owensboro for the next couple of weeks. The trucks arrived and we unloaded them today. I worked a bit with the wigs today. It was fun seeing all the costumes and set pieces. I'm excited to see it all come together. I'm fascinated by the behind-the-scenes aspects of theatre.
The actors will be coming in a few days for tech (for those wanting updates).
I live very near to Owensboro, and I am seeing the tour once it goes to it's next stop. Hopefully, it is as good as the promotional ads and commercials make it seem. I have a feeling that anyone who sees it, who's not a regualr theatregoer, is gonig to like regardless of whether is Equity or Non-Equity. I just don't want my money wasted!
I just find it weird that a show which is so star-driven as The Producers is having a non-Equity tour. I don't think people will come unless they have never seen the show before.

thank you so much for the update Jyn326....
keep us posted on the show. Did you ever see the other tour or bway, if so how does it compare?

well, because of my full-time job I wasn't able to commit to the full week of tech/dress rehearsals so I wasn't able to help out during the performances. So I didn't get to see any of the show. I just got back this morning from helping them load-out. We worked from curtain call til 8am.
Did any of you get to see either performance? How'd it go? When I asked the girl who is doing the wigs how the show went all she said was one of the wigs fell off into an actress' hand and when she tossed it behind her the audience clapped thinking it was part of the show. Other than that I don't know how well the show was recieved by the audience.
Our paper last week said Mel Brooks and a bunch of state legislators were supposed to be at opening night. Anyone know if they were actually there?

Jyn326, could you, if possible, describe the production values (the scenery) of the tour. I'm not sure if you've ever seen it on tour or on Broadway before (or seen photos), but how does it compare? Is there anything noticeably smaller or removed from this production's scenery? I take it they're not using a showdeck for automation?
If anyone else is seeing the tour in the coming weeks, please be sure to post your comments as I'm most curious as to how this production is going to hold up.
I'd be interested too--I went to the audition a few months ago and it was without a doubt, the worst-run audtion I've ever attended...I was #62 and I didn't sing for 4 1/2 hours...huge waste of time, and after the auditon, i'm sure the auditors felt like I was a waste of time as well..
I'd be interested in learning more about the cast for this production, as it has supposedly opened and played a few cities.
Just got back from the show. I will do a quick review:
I was surprised at how much I liked it. Knowing that it was non-equity and knowing what has been said about some non-equity tours, I actually thought the show was pretty well done. The cast was in pretty good shape, the orchestra was great, and the scenery was quite impressive for the tour.
Max Bialystock - Jason Simon - He was excellent. Sounded a lot like Nathan Lane and was very crazy. He kept the audience on their toes and had a beautiful voice.
Leo Bloom - Austin Owen - Also very, very good. He did a swell job of being the borderline OCD Leo Bloom and also had a beautiful voice. Extremely funny and worked well with Jason.
Roger De Bris - Brad Nacht - Very talented. He was crazy, he was loud, he made everyone laugh. A pleasure to watch.
Carmen Ghia - John West - Hilarious as well. Very funny and very gay. Worked really well with Brad too.
Ulla - Elizabeth Pawlowski - A little disappointing. I mean she had the looks and the accent down, but her singing and belting I do not think were up to par. She could have given it more umph.
But overall, it was extremely enjoyable. Being one of the first stops for the tour, they had their act together. :)
I am tired and am going to bed. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
