Skip both, go to a good musical like The Girl From North Country at the Public

Definitely the PROM!
We enjoyed them both.
Saw them the same weekend, Mean Girls is fun Fluff. The Prom, as has been noted on this board, is special and memorable. Score is far superior. No contest!
Another vote for The Prom. It's hilarious with a far superior cast and score than Mean Girls.

The Book of Mormon. I really didn't care for either Mean Girls or The Prom, and think they're equally devoid of substance.
That being said, if you want to see Casey Nicholaw do what Casey Nicholaw does best, the answer is Mean Girls, no question. Dynamic staging and tons of great choreo. The Prom has virtually none of that, save for the Act 1 finale. Both shows have bad scores, but at least Mean Girls has a fantastic book by Tina Fey.

The Prom.
Score is better, story is better and the book is 100% funnier. The Prom has so much heart too.
Mean Girls was ok. I love the movie, and you pretty much have seen the show if you’ve seen the movie, with the added bonus of some fun numbers and Apex Predator. I’d probably skip Mean Girls, unless you’re a big fan of the movie.
The Prom was more up my alley, but again it depends on what kind of show you want to get into. The Prom was made for a queer and broadway-loving crowd. Go if you like over-the-top broadway humor and have a soft spot for coming out stories and the dilemmas of the gay-and-figuring-out-the-prom part of life. I checked all the boxes on this one. ??
Both are garbage IMO, but I enjoyed Mean Girls more.
