The Real Company Revival Logo

Posted: 9/9/06 at 7:58pmYeah, I saw the Company ad this morning and actually wasn't too crazy about it. I like seeing the actors, but I think I was more excited about the show when I just saw the plain glass cubes logo. Keep in mind this is a show I have never seen and have only heard a few songs from...and the simple logo said more about the show to me than this NYT one does. It just seems a little cheesy to me with all those couples, like it's a run-of-the-mill romantic comedy. Maybe I'm alone in that opinion, I don't know.

I think it feels a little bit fluffy/romantic-comedy, which, while I'd definitely call the show a comedy, it's a bit darker than the logo lets on, I think. I still like it, and from a marketing standpoint, maybe that's the right way to go. The description nails the concept, I guess, without making it sound too raunchy or terribly deep, as well. Overall, though, it's quirky, and that's what the characters are. It's a tad busy, but I'm not gonna say I hate seeing the cast there. 'Cause I don't.
I wasn't thrilled with the plain one until I saw it with the blocks stacked vertically. I like it better that way.

Congrats to Raul's Agent.
No problem with him above the title of show,
But I would like to see the other actors as well.
I do not like the new logo.
I do love this show.

Well, Bobby is quite distinctly the leading role, so why would anyone else be above the title?
And um, congrats to his agent? How about congrats to Raúl? He deserves this so, so much.

Congrats to Raul!
Wow, Sondheim's name isn't even there.

Posted: 9/14/06 at 12:33amIt wasn't on the Sweeney marquee either, though, was it? I'm sure it'll be on some of the signage. Right now the marquee on the overhang is all that's up.

Posted: 9/14/06 at 12:35amNo, Sondheim's name wasn't on the Sweeney Todd marquis either. I don't think it needs to be.

Posted: 9/14/06 at 12:50amA little off topic, but on the site that shall not be named there are some clips of the recording session of the OBC of Company and it is amazing to watch Sondheim and the actors work, especially Elaine Strich struggling with her solo.

There are photos up outside the theater; there's the one in the picture below, and then the rest of the cast is split up amongst three horizontal photos. I only had time to snap one picture, unfortunately. I wanted to take a look at the Barrymore from across the street to see if it had a horizontal marquee yet, but I didn't have a chance to.
