Posted: 12/11/04 at 2:17amI agree about how desensitized young people are today. Is it necessary to see a knife gutting twenty-eight people in five minutes of a movie to scare them? That's not scary. THE SIXTH SENSE was scary because it was subtle. And, though it wasn't really scary, I think Tim Burton's SLEEPY HOLLOW is just plain creepy. Such a great movie. Does anyone else think Burton should adapt the Sherlock Holmes novel THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLE'S into a film? I tried adapting it a while ago but was sidetracked with an original screenplay I wanted to write.

Posted: 12/11/04 at 2:21amOh yeah. Possibly the most popular entertainment of today would be dodging the prongs on the sides of opened umbrellas while walking up ny streets in a downpour.

Posted: 12/11/04 at 2:27amI kind of have the same problem with THE VILLAGE as I did with SIGNS. Both movies' first halves were very spooky. In THE VILLAGE there's the scene of the town at the huge table outside and they just stare at the woods and in SIGNS when Mel Gibson looks out his daugther's window and sees the silhouette of an alien on the roof.

I wonder what Shyamalan's follow up will be? Again, off topic - anyone catch the teaser trailer for Tim Burton's CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY?

"Do I have a right to be irked? Should I blow it off tomorrow?"
Yes. No.
I'd be irked too, but that doesn't mean you should blow off hanging out with your friends if you do this X-Mas/New Years thing every year. Just tell the person that seems to have taken it into their hands that you don't appreciate them doing that and it feels like they went behind your back about it when it was YOUR thing to organize in the first place.
And yes, that's a very good avatar.
RIP Jerry.

"TG - I LOVE Dirty Dancing! (Although that "baby" line is still stupid.)"
It may be stupid, but it's the most remembered line from that movie.
Hehe.

"Boy will he be missed - i think he was in his prime - especially for good film roles...."
Definitely. A friend of mine said she was listening to him singing 'Razzle, Dazzle' from Chicago last night and was wondering when he'd be back on Broadway... and yeah, it's another underwritten role but he would have made an awesome Wizard in Wicked.

"he was in beauty and the beast?"
He did the voice and singing for Lumiere (the candle) in the movie. :)
