They cut the only good song: "It's Only Love". Christine Andreas sang the hell out of that song.

I enjoyed Rex Smith in Version 2.0.

I agree. I thought Rex Smith was much better than Terrance Mann...but that could partly be accounted to the book revisions between SP1 and SP2. I also preferred Rachel York over Christine Andreas. I really had an excellent time when I saw this show. I got perusal copies of the script from Tams-Witmark and seriously thought about directing it at the school I was teaching at...but alas I didn't have enough strong male singers or actors to pull it off.

Pardon my ignorance, but I've wondered this for years: what, exactly, is a "pimpernel"???

Thanks.

It was a symbol in the Blakeney family crest..and Percy had a ring with a pimpernel ensignia on it (if I remember correctly). Percy used this symbol to name his heroic alter-persona "The Scarlet Pimpernel."

"They wrote a play about a freakin' flower?"

NO...they wrote a play based on a VERY FAMOUS novel about a freakin' flower.

I think The Scarlet Freakin' Flower would make a very enjoyable musical. I'd pay $100 bucks for that.

If Percy Blakeney were in Les Mis....

Percy: Sink me! If it isn't Javvurt!
Javert: Zsah-vair, it's pronounced Zsah-vair.
Pecry: But it's spelled J-A-V-E-R-T Javvurt.
Javert: Repeat after me Zsah...Zsah....
Percy: Oh! Zsa-Zsa! Like the Gabor sister! Well I personally have always prefered Eva.
Javert: (Looks for gun)

Actually for all of the flack Frank has taken from the critics, the NY Times review of the Longbottom directed version came close to a rave.
