The Stephen Schwartz Album

Can I get a witness how excellent this album is?

I bought it the other day and have not stopped playing it. Alice Ripley's 'West End Avenue' is the highlight of the CD but it's all gravy.

Its a great CD, though hard to find it seems. I bought it a few years ago, but I love Alice Ripley's "West End Avenue" and Laura Benanti's Godspell melody especially.

Emily Skinner and Kristin Chenoweth's tracks are also high on my list.

It's all about "Lion Tamer". I think that's my new favorite song.

I got mine from Colony. They have a few more I think. Drop 'em like they're hot!

I love Laura Benanti's version of "day by day/beautiful city"! She makes me really love those songs. Alot.

I bought it maily for Sara's song but there are some real gems! And I'd hate to bring up the W word but it would've been cool to have some different versions of Wicked songs.

I know. I think it came our pre-Wicked but I would love to hear some different 'takes' on Wicked songs recorded. One day...

re: The Stephen Schwartz Album

I really love Benanti's little medly at the top of the CD -- best thing on it, in my opinion. I didn't like Sara's "Colors of the Wind" very much when it first came out, and her newfound fame hasn't changed my mind about it. Guy Haines didn't do much with "Corner of the Sky," which surprised me. I think the standouts are Jason Daniely's "Out There" (about 100 times better than Tom Hulce's movie version) and Chenoweth's "Lion Tamer."

my favorites are Laura Benanti "Beautiful city/Day by day" and the "Whatever time we have" with Brian D'arcy James and Luba. re: The Stephen Schwartz Album
Norbert Leo Butz quotes about John Lithgow: "He's really clumsy. One of the joys in life is to watch a great big huge man totally wipe out backstage. It takes John about three minutes to hit the floor. It's like watching a Great Sequoia falling gracelessly."

Jason Danieley's voice blows my mind. He easily possesses one of my favorite male voices in theatre. Why don't we see more of him?

re: The Stephen Schwartz Album

jczelyph...my dad actually found another take on a Wicked song, For Good. a man named Lee Lessack who out out a cd a little while ago of duets with various people. one of them, track 11 i believe in a version of For Good performed by Lee and Stephen Schwartz, its not bad and its just interesting to hear.

I agree with the Jason Danieley comment...he makes me swoon when he sings.

Me too. Incredible voice.

Where can I see a full track list?

re: The Stephen Schwartz Album

Alice Ripley's "West End Avenue", Emily Skinner's "Chanson", and Kristin Chenoweth's "Lion Tamer" (just to name a few) are terrific. I hated Susan Egan's "Meadowlark", though. Overall, a great album.

When I first came to New York City I walked around with Ripley's "West End Ave" playing over and over on my ipod. Truly great.

re: The Stephen Schwartz Album

This is one of my favorite CD's in my collection. I'm a big fan of Schwartz actually. He writes great stuff. The problem with many of his shows is in book-writing and direction.

My favorite tracks are.....all of them.

re: The Stephen Schwartz Album

You know the singer of West End Avenue in the Original Broadway Production of the Magic Show is much better than Alice Ripley. You can hear her on the Amazon .com site. It doesn't give her name. But i was blown away by her rendition when I heard before.
