Has anyone heard anything about The Story of My Life at the Goodspeed? I was thinking of making the trip up to see it, but hadn't heard anything about it. Does anyone have any info? Thanks.
I saw it when they tried it out in Toronto 2 years ago. Amazing score. One that will have fans dsalivating for a cast album. The show as played in Toronto was a little overlong (one act, 1 hour 45 min) but if they cut 15-20 minutes it would be fine.
In a word: Go.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks." Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
PLease let me know what you think. Not sure what changes have been made since Toronto.

I saw the goodspeed production just last week and I must say it is just truly brilliant in every form. The score is brilliant, the story, heart-wrenching and touching, the set is simple yet masterfully effective and interesting and then you have the two actors, who simply outdo themselves in everyway. Gets gives a beautiful performance as the conflicted homebody and Chase is equally astounding as his best friend turned big shot author. I could not reccommend it more. It was one of the finest shows I have seen in a long time and I hope it does transfer because this musical has earned it. It truly is a show that captures what broadway and musical theater is about.
