Anita in WSS--her first major role that propelled her to Broadway stardom. And what a role it is!

"If there was a Mount Rushmore for Broadway scores, "West Side Story" would be front and center. It snaps, it crackles it pops! It surges with a roar, its energy and sheer life undiminished by the years" - NYPost reviewer Elisabeth Vincentelli

Of course, Anita is my favorite because of my unadulterated passion for WSS, but I also think that Chita was spectacular in Spiderwoman, and I'm not sure that there was anyone else who could have originated it better at the time.

Chita as Velma, she'll always be Velma to me... Grew up listening to that verison of the show.

I haven't seen her in any of them, but from the recordings I've bought, I have to go with Anita. Of course, that's swayed by my love for WSS.

"`I grow old... I grow old... I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.` What does that mean, Mr. Marlowe?" "Not a bloody thing. It just sounds good." He smiled. "That is from the `Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock.` Here's another one. `In the room women come and go/Talking of Michael Angelo.' Does that suggest anything to you, sir?" "Yeah -- it suggests to me that the guy didn't know very much about women." "My sentiments exactly, sir. Nonetheless I admire T. S. Eliot very much." "Did you say, 'nonetheless'?" - The Long Goodbye by Raymond Chandler

This is a tough question, BUT - I think I have to call a tie between Anna in "The Rink" and "Kiss of the Spider Woman". Not that she wasn't divine in "Chicago" - but that was the first real time I was "turned on" to Chita so it's hard to rate something as best when you are simply being floored and amazed for the very first time. She, I might add, has been VERY consistent, As I have seen her in Nightclub & Cabaret settings as well with her "Chita Plus Two" Show and so many more, She always delivers and exceeds any expectations and is always the same down to earth and great lady I met through mutual friends when I was a kid and will always adore. She has always went the extra mile, and it shows, onstage and in real life. I Love Her and she knows it. But then again, Who doesn't Love Chita?
