BETTY BLUE EYES, the new Cameron Mackintosh musical, opened in the West End tonight.

The stage musical, based on 1984 Alan Bennett film "A Private Function" starring Reece Shearsmith and Sarah Lancashire has received all positive reviews so far, with more expected throughout the morning.

His first new musical in over a decade, this could be Cameron Mackintosh's next world-conquering musical blockbuster.

Meanwhile, BETTY continues to play at the Novello Theatre in London's West End.

I thought this wasn't performing as well as expected? I have to admit I am biased because I hate the cheap writing of Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman (responsible for the US remake of Queer as Folk, the flop followup series Leap Years, the 90s soap Sisters) and when I heard they wrote the script I lost a lot of interest...

While I'm not sure how it would play outside of UK, I expect Ghost will be a fairly good size hit in London.

I was expecting to read that the West End's next big hit will be MATILDA.

I just bought tickets. It's not selling that well because the days I looked at in May all had lots of open seats.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

It's just received great reviews from all the Times, the Guardian and the Telegraph.

I thought it was charming, but I don't see it conquering the world, like Les Mis or Cats.

If you're going, be prepared for lots of songs about meat. And feet.

Behind the fake tinsel of Broadway is real tinsel.
