The Witch and Momma Rose related?

The Witch in Into the Woods and Momma Rose in Gypsy. I feel that these characters are somewhat related as both being protective mothers who only want the best for the children but do not think about the results of their actions what do you think?

and they both can look remarkably like Bernadette Peters at times.

I think the Brothers Grimm actually did specify that one of Rapunzel's twins grew up to be Mama Rose's grandmother.
