Both are Nederlander.
Variety said Marquis (La Cage isn't doing too well) but others say Minksoff (Fiddler isn't either)...

Variety has often been wrong and, so far, they're the only one that has mentioned the Marquis. We have no idea how LA CAGE will fair at the TONYs and what that might do to how long it lasts afterwards.
I wouldn't count my chickens just yet...

Posted: 5/28/05 at 7:17pmEven if La Cage wins Best Revival, that's not an award that ever saves a show at the box office. And if Lloyd Webber wants the Marquis, it will be the Marquis.

Well if Mr. Webber wants to kick out LA CAGE...then let him.
Although, I prefer the music of Jerry Herman over Webber's ANY day of the week.

Posted: 5/28/05 at 8:51pmFor some reason I can't see it in the Marquis. I hope it goes into the Minksoff.

Sadly, Fiddler is a dead horse that needs to be put out of its misery.
ARE THERE ANY GOOD TEVYES LEFT?

Posted: 5/28/05 at 8:56pmIf Variety is saying the Marquis than it probably will play there, though I had heard the Minskoff originally because they thought the unique design aspects of the show would work in only a handful of theatres -- the Minskoff being one of them.

Posted: 5/28/05 at 8:57pmMaybe they will do us all a favor and not open this show at all. It is horrendous crap.

Posted: 5/28/05 at 9:03pmMaybe. But this musical is still crap.

Posted: 5/28/05 at 11:06pmAw come on! I love this show, the music is amazing! And I think the story is great too.

Posted: 5/29/05 at 11:24amWoman in White scored rave reviews, a few Olivers, and a large fan database in London. It will open. However I don't know if it is going to play in the Marquis or Minskoff. I mean if you think about it both shows are on the edge of closing but if you remember last year Fiddler on the Roof almost shut down but after it got a Tony nod, it remained open. the same could happen with La Cage.

Posted: 5/29/05 at 11:30amAnother show is going into the Minskoff. While Woman in White was originally announced for that theatre for fall '05, it's now headed for the Marquis in spring, '06, at which point La Cage, Tony or no Tony for Best Revival, will have likely played itself out.

Have you seen the show?
I have, and it is definitely in my top 10 I have ever seen...
Glad your icon is an actor of talent...

rave views?!?!?!?! ERM NO!
They were very VERY mixed, its one of those "love or hate musical" I thought it was appauling personally, the cast great but the stroyline a bore and the music wasnt really that memorable.
I think the show, on the topic, will be going to THE MINSKOFF in Spring 06.
I think The Marquis could hold The Princesses or The Color Purple

Posted: 5/29/05 at 4:22pmI think a musical like Woman in White should go into the Marquis -- the minskoff doesn't strike me as the right kind of theatre for an ALW musical.

I loved WOMAN IN WHITE. I enjoyed it more than MARY POPPINS.
Saw both at Christmas.

Posted: 5/31/05 at 2:29pmThe show is much better suited for the MINSKOFF not the MARQUIS. I do think the LA CAGE probable Tony wins will help it stay alive until the Fall...but I look for Fiddler to close when Harvey leaves...it's had a decent, healthy run.
