The best day of the week to see a show

Do you normally go on a saturday night? A thursday night during the week? A matinee or evening? Which is your favorite time to go to a show and do you have a preference?

I usually take public transportation, so more often than not, Wednesday or Saturday matinees are my best bet. I like that San Jose does Thursday matinees, too. :)

I go to shows all over the time scale.

Sunday Matinees: Gypsy, Frog and Toad
Sunday Night: Little Shop of Horrors, Oklahoma, Lion King
Monday Night: Phantom
Tuesday Night: W*cked, Light in the Piazza
Wednesday Mat: None
Wednesday Night: Aida, Les Miserables
Thursday Night: Into the Woods, Phantom (Second time)
Friday Night: Hairspray, Millie
Saturday Mat: Mamma Mia!, Pillowman,

I like going on Saturday Mats. the most.

re: The best day of the week to see a show

Having seen many shows more than once, its easy to tell the best days to go to each show, as they vary greatly. I remember vividly that for Gypsy, the best day was Saturday evenings or Sunday matinees. The Sat matinee audiences were 'blah'. For other shows, I prefer evening performances on Thursday, Fridays or Saturday. The best day to go to dramatic plays are the weekday because there is less destraction and you are really absorbed in the show. I remember going to WAOVW on a Sunday, Friday and on a Wednesay and the Wednesday performance was golden!

I despise matinees. Seeing them, and acting in them.

Theatre was made for the night.

Friday or Saturday night works best for me.

I don't like matinee's either, but coming in from Jersey, Sundays are easiest. Weeknight traffic has been horible, coming and going.
Once or twice a year we like to stay in a midtown hotel and see 3 shows, Tues night, Wed mat and night, but hotel prices have gone up a lot lately.
Saturday night is the logical choice for most people, but then you have a tougher time getting good seats, fewer discounts, the restaurants and bars are crowded, and so on. Plus, I usually work Saturdays.
Oh! I don't want to leave out Thursday nights. Seems some of the best times I've had before and after shows was on Thursdays. Restaurants and bars seemed lively, but not crowded, and with a good mix of patrons.

Well, I used to prefer Thursday nights. Becuase I could go to the Chatterbox then see a show. I think I might start seeing more matinees, though. I don't feel safe walking around Jersey City by myself at night anymore. re: The best day of the week to see a show

i despise matinees. the audiences always seem bored, and their minds are somewhere else. night performances are just always better-the performers, and the audience
