The connection between Rentheads and Wickedites — Page 2

I am a fan of both shows. I was a fan of Wicked before Rent, but then when I came across Rent I was going through a stressful time, etc. I do like Rent better. It hadn't been like anything I'd heard before and the music was wonderful to hear. I can't explain it.

Actually, when I first decided I wanted to see Wicked and heard idina was in it, i said to myself, "hey, idina's name sounds fmailiar..." Lo and behold - I saw her name in Rent...the rest is history...

I think it comes down to the fact that the music is similiar - DON'T ATTACK ME - in the sense that they are more of a pop feel. Notice how the same crowd that likes Rent and Wicked also like Aida (which has a few Rent links too - including Idina!). Rent is an edgier pop-rock feel, while Aida and Wicked are more pop, but the bottom line is they are both genres that appeal to a younger audience, typically.

Rent was the first show that I truly fell in love with years ago. It changed the way I view so much, and opened me up to the incredbile world of Broadway, it can never be replaced.

And I agree, it caught my attention because it was "different". It is the reason I let it in, gave it a chance. But the heart, the warmth, the message, the amazing music became much more important that anything else. The fact that I enjoy Wicked is purely coincidental. Idina simply being in it didn't sell me, or somehow make me adore it. I like Wicked. I like Rent. I like many shows.
