Richard Seff, Greg Anthony, Roger Anderson, and Peter Flynn on polishing their musical SHINE! for NYMF. It's a wonderful interview which takes you into the creative process of a musical that finally will get a chance to 'shine' at NYMF this year.

I was at the theater where the original production of SHINE opened --- Virginia Museum Theatre -- on its staff in the 1980s. Roger Anderson's score is magical ... he is a major melodist in the ranks of Herman, Berlin and Mencken. In fact, it was primarily the score that attracted us to the work. The book was a bit unwieldy -- most new musicals start out that way -- but the score was always gorgeous. And I have a recording of it to prove it!
I have to say that the Original Cast Recording of the 2001 reading really doesn't do this show justice. I can think of no greater good than after 25 years to really see this musical -- well, SHINE!
Break a leg, all!
