As I stated in my previous post, as a comedy Director and Writer, I have auditioned, evaluated, and directed approximately 1500 comedy performers from all over the USA in the last 6 years. Our auditions are rigorous indeed. In fact, most sketch comics don't make it past the first round. Their lack of acting skills and acting training, show up immediately. Even when we do comedy sketches, nearly all our performers are highly trained actors.
Here is my "A" list of males performers blessed with excellent to highly gifted talent for comedy acting, and who are not known to national audiences.
ANDREW POND: - The consumate stage pro, tremendous range as a comedy actor, has a gifted voice and talent for comedy acting. See him on the Net in sketches such as, "Annies Craving for Rough Sex." He really cracks me up. He's also a Director's dream performer. With Andrew Pond and Amanda Sears in the lead roles, this sketch will soon reach 1/2 million hits, making it one of the most popular comedy sketches on the internet which features performers unknown to national audiences.
MATTHEW ALBINAK: Has the rare combination of voice, physical stature, mannerisms, and talent for comedy acting. Reminds me of Jack Lemmon. He can do nervous comedic energy superbly.
There are other actors I am chomping at the bit to employ in key roles in a comedy film.
JAMES POWELL - This talented performer never fails to make a scene funnier. Because he has the special talent for comedy, he always finds ways to lift a scene without overacting.
MARK McCARTHY
KEVIN OESTENSTAD (currently resides in Canada)
MATHEW HUEBSCH (from Wisconsin)
JASON SMITH (minority actor)
Kudos to these talented and studied performers.
