I was curious if anyone out there is still familiar with Starmites, or if its just been tossed aside as a forgotten musical except for when it pops up as a random non-professional performance here and there? I fell in love with some of the music a few years ago. Though it has many weak points, I can't help but adore Reach Right Down, Immolation, and Milady. So this mostly applies to those who have never been in the show. Do you still remember Starmites?

Starmites is one of my favorite shows ever, (see signature)and I recently saw a really decent high school production of it. The show does have a few weak points, but it's still so much fun and has such good music. I really like Afraid of the Dark, The Banshees Song, and Superhero Girl.:)

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

Wasn't Adam Fleming in this show?

Fleming, as a supporting character, was in the 2001 revival of Starmites. I've heard of a released recording of Starmites 2001, but never came across it.

I saw a production of Starmites at the Illinois High School Theatre festival and the production was incredible. I fell in love with it. "Reach Right Down" is such a great song! I managed to download all the songs from it but I didnt have luck getting the actual recording because it is out of print.

If you want a recording, use InterLibrary Loans (if you have a library card) and order it to be sent to your local library. I live in Cincinnati and got the CD from Boston and jusr copied it onto my computer.

I was recently in a workshop on Long Island at the Cultural Arts Playhouse of: "StarmiteZ". It's a revised edition. Even more so from 'Starmites 2001'. Barry Keating (composer, writer) directed. I was just a droid, kind of background with a bunch of equity folks. Definately a great experience. He's been revising, adding and subtracting new music, rewriting parts and trying to get it back to Broadway. We had a few potential funders come and sit in on the production but we haven't heard any news and it's been 7 months. The cast received wonderful reviews while Barry as writer and composer received awful reviews. It doesn't look like anything is going to be happening anytime soon.
It's a lot of fun with some great tunes but to be honest, I don't think it's worthy of Broadway. Probably a nice cult-followed Off-Broadway show. A 'Bat Boy' of sorts, you know?
Barry promised to contact us all with news so I'll post if I hear anything.

There was also a concert of it last year with Nicole Leach, Elaina Reed, Mandy Gonzalez, John Hill, Harris Doran, Kim Cea, Tyler Maynard, Joe Carney, Soara-Joye Ross, and Doug Storm.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to work with Harris and Doug in the production.

I think it would be fair to compare Starmites to BatBoy

I played Space Punk in college - the show was fun, because of the cast - but it really is a wretched show. Some enjoyable music to sing, but we used to laugh at the scary book/lyrics. Incomparable to Bat Boy. Bat Boy is so smart. The only reason it could be called "similar" would be due to its cult following.

But I won't live alone in a house of regret.

There's a reason why this show flopped.
