The next movie musical

I know that "rent" is coming out in fall and "the producers" in 06 but what about hairspray or wicked ere those two shows going to be on the big screen also?...

We had a thread on this same exact topic not even 24 hours ago. I'd be shocked if Hairspray and Wicked aren't made into movies, but there's nothing definite.

Wicked probably won't be made into a movie because of the money it's bringing in. And all the plans to go into Europe and the tour is still yet to end...If it is EVER to be made into a movie, it won't be for a while.

ETA: Hairspray is being made into a movie.

P.S. A movie that's a musical. I realize that there is currently a "Hairspray" movie out.

i hope they dont make wicked into a movie, its meant to be live. I dont think itd be as passionate

The recent clip of Stephanie and Kendra make it look like it would make a fine adaptation to film. But like I said: the live theatre hasn't been milked for all it's worth yet.

If a movie is ever made, I will put the opening date around 2020.
