Love this show. It was done by The Acting Company in '85, at The American Place (now the Laura Pels? same building anyway), then later moved to the Douglas Fairbanks theater. It was wonderful production. Patti LuPone was in it, along with many other Julliard alumni. John Houseman both directed it and he introduced the show nightly. I am curious as to how they deal with the opening in Theater Ten's production, giving the musical's backstory. Or do they skip that part? Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
There was a movie made from it, which wasn't quite as good (IMO), but it might be worth renting for you.
It's only wikipedia, but here's a little more info.
