Hello!
I'm travelling to Paris next week and it would be amazing if anyone can help me with recommendations of what to see or which theater look into! Im a big theater fan so I can see anything from a big musical to experimental theater!
Thanks a lot!!!

Posted: 1/27/10 at 9:03pmHi! I studied in Paris last spring and am so jealous that you get to be there. Although I did not take in the theater scene, I lived in the unofficial theater district, the 2nd arrondissement (Paris is divided into multiple districts). The second is the area near the Opera House, just north of the Louvre and Tuileries. Check out the Opera Garnier for ballets, Opera Bastille for operas. Also, right near the Louvre and the Palais Royal (in the 1st arrondisement) there is the Comedie Francaise, where you could surely find a show. I went to a ballet at the theater at the Trocadero (the 16th arrondisement), but I don't remember the name of the theatre. There were a lot of small theaters near my house. Although I don't remember the names, I do have one recommendation. There are theatrical ads all over the metro stations, so keep an eye out for those and see if any interest you. Have a wonderful time and I wish I could be more help.

Here's some basic info:

As suggested, once you get there, grab a copy of PARISCOPE - not just for the theater listings, but museum info, etc. It's available at virtually every newstand and kiosk in the city.
(Looks as if the only big musical on view is THE LION KING.)

I second la Comédie-Française. Historic, very serious audience (who will bite you if you whisper trying to follow what is happening), traditional, very French.
You hardly need help attending theatre in Paris. Go to the information booth near the top of Les Champs-Élysées not far from the Arc de Triomphe if you need anything.
Research your hotel room more carefully. Paris has some stinkers so use a reliable guide book.

Well we have two big musicals over here at the moment, the Lion King and Zorro. Zorro is fun to watch. Fiddler on the Roof, Le violon sur le Toit, is also back but does not start until next week.
Has far as public theatres are concerned you can either try the Opera Garnier, Théâtre du Châtelet or the Opéra Bastille at the moment. The theatre district is in fact a little bit of the second arrondissement and large part of the 9th.
La Comédie Française has great theatres indeed but
PM if you need any piece of advice on shows or hotels.
Have a great time in Paris if you need somebody to show you some of the city do not hesitate.
