Okay, so I've been thinking about this for a while, and figured I had to ask. If this goes in the student board, feel free to move it!

I'm in high school at the moment, and looking at internships and things like that. I really love business, and I really love Broadway, so I think I'd like a job that combines the two. That's why I'm looking into an internship - to kind of find out about jobs that apply the two.

Does anyone know of any business/theatre internships (or even jobs just to think about a major) that accept high school students?

You should look at the job listings on playbill.com. A lot of those have specifics about the internships they list. I would imagine it would be tough, since at least college students aren't in class all day and a lot of theatre admin internships would require a more flexible schedule, but you may be able to find something within the actual theatres that could work for you.

Summer programs often do accept high school students.

I believe Richard Frankel (sp)? Productions has a program like this. He produced Producers,Hairspray,Little Shop,Sweeney and I think Jersey boys I could be wrong on that one.. you should look into it. He gives credits to students.

I was thinking about it for this summer. I saw Roundabout on there today, and I'm reading their website - their business and marketing internships sounds great. I have a few theatre production help things on my resume, and a lot of business.

Where are you? The NY Metro area??

Go to the NY Public Library Annex on 5th Avenue between 40th & 41st Steets. I think the periodical circulation desk is on the 2nd floor. Go to the window and ask for the current issue of ARTSEARCH.

This is a monthly newsletter-ish kind of thing published by TCG (who also publish American Theatre Magazine) that lists jobs at regional (LORT) theatres across the US.

It is worth a look-see just to find out the jobs that are being filled and where.

If getting to the midtown is not easy or if you (or anyone reading this post) are not near NY at all, other libraries such as at a large college or university may carry it as well. Call around. Subscriptions to this are not cheap so find it in a library rather than buy it.

Look at www.tcg.org for all sorts of info.

In general, the more you know, the more you know.
Can you balance a checkbook?
Know how to leave a paper trail?
Remember obscurities or at least where you or somebody else put these obscurities?
Do you give good phone?
And then there are various computer program skills.
Do you know all sorts of terminology? Like any industry, theatre has its own slang.

As gross as any of these may sound, they can help you get a job.

Have fun.

Pick up the latest copy of "Dramatics Magazine." Their latest issue is the "Student Summer Theatre Directory" with a listing of summer programs, summer stock companies, and internships/apprenticeships all over the country. You'll definitely find something that suits your needs.
