I've read books here and there about how wealthy society ladies, in past decades, would host salons and invite all sorts of artistic people to get together and "mingle." Also, there would be the occasional patron, with considerable means, who'd take an promising artist under her (or his) wing and lend encouragement /financial support. Having said that, does that type of "Broadway angel/patron" still exist in 2008, in some fashion? Just curious..... from RC in Austin, Texas..where it's a warm 82 F.
