Theatrical Sites and Their Promotion Of Shows
#1Theatrical Sites and Their Promotion Of Shows
Posted: 7/14/14 at 7:46pmHello. I was just on Facebook and came upon the Broadway.com page. There was a promotional video of Aladdin. What struck me as kind of unusual is that it resembled an infomercial. Paul Wontorek was musing on how wonderful the show is to a great degree. I'd never seen something quite like that before. Based on the various Aladdin promotional videos, I agree that it looks like a fantastic show. When stars go on his show to promote their play or musical, I'm aware that he is very supportive and complimentary. I get that in an interview setting. In this Broadway.com Facebook page video, he's standing by himself and praising Aladdin to the heavens. I don't mean to be cynical, but is it Paul Wontorek praising the show based on his own personal views or is it part of a business deal? He seems to be a likeable guy. I prefer his interview style in comparison to Julie James (who overpraises to the stratosphere). When I saw this video, I thought: "hmmm?"
