They just don't make em' like Imogene Coca anymore.

Imogene Coca was one of the best comedians of her time. If we had more people like her in theatre today, we could get a lot of better quality shows, as writers may want to write for their stars. Watch this clip from Broadway goes to Washington, and remember how great 'On the Twentieth Century' was.

And don't forget to 'Repent'.

Saw her in a touring Once Upon A Mattress and she was terrific. Except that she singing was not as good as Carol's, she was her equal or better in every other way.

Saw her in On The Twentieth Century on Broadway on my first trip to NY in 1978. Met her at the stage door. The show had been playing for some months, she emerged (with a minder) with several huge sheaths of flowers and two large russian poodles, was charming, signed my programme and got into a white limo and disappeared into the night.

That woman had the energy of a 16-year-old. Love this song, love the show.

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-

And even if there was another Imogene Coca out there, there isn't the training ground out there for her.
