Did anyone go see "Thoroughly Modern Millie" in Boston this past week?

I'm so mad. I go to college in Boston. I wish they did this while I was in school.

I also go to school in Boston, but I'm home for the summer. I never had the opportunity to see this show on Broadway, so it would have been great to see it. Why couldn't they have waited a month to come!

Are you talking about the Reagle Players production in Waltham, or was there some other tour through town?

It was at Reagle just for one week (I think July 19-23rd)

I worked on the show, so if you're looking for unbiased opinions, I may not be the best person. But yes, I did see it, every night. It got a very good response from the audiences, but unfortunately there were a lot of empty seats (the shorter run makes it even harder for word-of-mouth to spread).

Was this the production starring Eden Riegel as Millie?

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Yeah. She was fantastic in the role, and a great person to work with.

Let's admit it, the show is box office poison, particularly in Boston. The poor Wang Center for the Performing Arts was almost bankrupted when they brought in the national tour of Millie. Seriously.

how did NSMT do with it? haven't they programmed it as their own production in the round?

Will: They don't give out awards for helping people be gay... unless you count the Tonys. "I guarantee that we'll have tough times. I guarantee that at some point one or both of us will want to get out. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life..."

I was really bored at Reagle's peoduction. It was just a poor copy of the Broadway direction and Choreography. Not an original moment in the show. But that is always the story with Reagle Players. If my tickets were not free... I would not go.

Every time I hear someone say they are doing the original Broadway choreography I have to remind them that there is a big difference between DOING the original choreography and TRYING to do it. It is sort of GUFFMANesque... you see these kids in the lobby after the show asking if they are ready for BROADway.. and I just snicker as I walk by.
