Hi Sally,
I saw Three Sisters and really really liked it. It's definitely a bit more rowdy than traditional Chekhov productions, there's music and movement and a definite emphasis on the comedy. I think people in general are too willing to push the idea of Chekhov writing "comedies" (when really only The Seagull is listed as such), but it's a style and it works out overall. Of course, I don't think I've ever seen a totally successful Three Sisters, which is a bummer because it's probably Chekhov's strongest work, but this works on its own, less subtle terms.
