Threepenny Opera CD update (the best I can do, anyway)

For those hanging on to the hope of a Threepenny revival recording as I am, I wanted to fill you in on the latest information that I have.

I want to give you the gist of an email I received this morning from Mr. Deutsch, President of Sh-k-boom/Ghostlight Records. He thanked me for my letter and commented that this recording is basically about preservation, preservation of the production and performances. He explained that it makes very little economic sense to do this recording. The desire to record it is there, but the financing is critical. For revivals of this kind, he exlained that he must rely on the theatre and it's patrons to assist with the cost of preserving the particular production, as was the case with Bernarda Alba.

What I am clinging to, though, is his last paragraph:

"I know the roundabout is working on getting the money together so hopefully it will happen with some label, mine or someone's at least."

So, it's not too late and I haven't given up hope yet. I am, needless to say, relieved and thrilled to know from an insider that Roundabout IS INDEED trying to find the funding. If they can get the finances together, a recording could be announced before the production closes.

God knows I'll have my fingers crossed all week!

Take care, all.

Thanks for the update! I feel pretty helpless seeing as I have no connections and live way to far away from NY to physically do anything, but I am very attentive and I appreciate the update, as I'm sure everydoes. That last paragraph sounded pretty positive, but I guess I don't know about the feel of the rest of the email, but at least the people in charge haven't given up! Do we know what BCR has up his sleeve? We can't forget about that.....

Ditto to everyone else. Thanks a bunch for the update! Hopefully this CD can be made!! :)!
And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

Happy to keep all of you posted with what little I know. I only wish I had definite, concrete news that's the kind we're all hoping for.

Keep those fingers crossed! =)

Take care, everybody.
