The most frustrating thing is how wonderful the show could've been - I really do like the score - and all of the missed opportunities it presented.
I agree 100 percent. I was really hoping that Disney would knock it out of the park with The Little Mermaid. Instead, it turned out to be an ugly mess. The staging was bad, the book incorporated unnecessary changes, including a poorly written and staged ending that is totally anti-climactic.
Worst of all are the sets and costumes, which are the ugliest I've seen in recent memory.
The only saving grace is the cast, all of which I thought were outstanding. And what's really sad is that if anyone had the money to throw at it to make it better, it's Disney. But they chose not to.
