I will be in NYC in a few days and I need to know if there are any internet cafes in the Times Square area. I will be staying on 46th St. I know this is an odd post here, but I figured you guys could help me out. Can't wait. Seeing a bunch of shows.Thank you Updated On: 12/18/03 at 12:32 PM

I think there is one next to the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on 49th Street, where "Nine" recently played.

There's one right on 42nd St. between the Lion King and Applebees, I think. I'm almost positive it's on 42nd between 7th and 8th-- on the same side of the street as Lion King and Madame Toussaud's (spelling?).

There is an internet cafe on 42nd St., between 7th and 8th, right next to the very obvious McDonald's. It's pretty large, and not too expensive.

Didn't the visitor's center over by The Lion King have free internet service for cheking email?

The one on 42nd is kind of scummy, isn't it? I used it last year. Is the one on 49th better or worse?

Try the visitors & conevention bureau in the old Embassy Theater next to the Palace. They have a bank of computers you can use for free for 10 minutes. You can even e mail a friend . This is what Chinkie refers to in his/her post

I work at the Visitor's Center!!!! (At Theatre Stuff, Inc.) Yes, there's about 7 computers... the lines not too bad, usually and it's a ten minute limit. But you can go back in line if you're not done. re: re: re: Kinkos It's free... not so shabby! And it's a cute, clean little place unlike the Internet Cafe on 42nd St. It's pretty raunchy in there... had to go in a few times when I was switching services to check my mail. Very schevy.

I know you were asking about Times Square, but I have to wonder if the public library in NYC has internet access? The one here in Providence does. (14 machines, 30 minutes generally but up to 2 hours if you phone in a reservation. You can phone in up to 24 hours in advance of needing the computer. If you're more than 10 minutes late, you lose your reservation.)

Before I started traveling with my laptop and staying at places with internet access, I went to the Times Square Visitors Center (and still do when I'm in the area and want a quick check of my e-mail) and the internet cafe on 42nd (very reasonable, but yes rather scruffy looking). I ignored it's appearance only for the convenience of having cheap online access. You can wait a long time time at Times Square and people don't always yield the computer after 10 minutes!

The Internet Cafe on 42nd street is scummy. This is a definite consideration with the flu going around. Take some Purell if you need to go in. Also, they don't have printing capabilities. I print out my boarding pass the day before my flight leaves, and I go to the internet cafe by the Eugene O'Neill. It's a bit more expensive, but it's cleaner, and you can print stuff out.
